edge of tomorrow, an after action report

it's a tom cruise movie, which is usually a reason to run away as fast as possible. however, it fails to suck. why? it's groundhog day meets the forever war (or perhaps "ender's game", that is, the original short story). also, like groundhog day, parts of it are played for humor.

( i've been there already, so i know what's gonna happen (spoilers) )

we paid full price for the movie, and it's probably worth it if you like the reviews, but it couldn't hurt to see it cheaply. i would recommend seeing it in an theater, to get the full effect though. we saw the flat version, so i can't say anything definitive about the 3-d version, but it appears from the 2-d one that the 3-d's simply used for cheap thrills/horror and doesn't really add anything to the movie.
