a vast repast

twoelevenwe got our thanksgiving dinner catered again, for the same reason as last year: we don't want to eat in restaurants and we don't want to fly any more than is necessary.
last year, the restaurant delivered a 5pm dinner fashionably late just before midnight. this year, they swore up and down that they'd get everything to us by 3pm yesterday. and much to our surprise, a delivery guy showed up at a minute to three. so, all we had to do today was finish the cooking, which was pretty easy.
i didn't mention the size of this feast. it's intended for 4-5 people, but it feeds us for a weekend. it consists of:
* a salad, which can be called a salad in the same way godzilla can be called a lizard
* five pounds of turkey
* four quarts of vegetables (a quart each of brocolli, carrots, green beans, and brussels sprouts)
* four quarts of starches (a quart each of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, wild rice, and stuffing)
* assorted dressings, sauces, and gravy for the above
* two desserts:
-- a 12" pumpkin pie
-- four pints of gelato (only two quarts are included, but they forgot ours last year, the note was still in their customer-tracking system, so we got that too)
we've barely scratched the surface of it. we'll probably come up for air on monday.
