I don't know that you specifically would learn much from it. i don't know either. :) but it comes recommended, and poking around online suggests people find it useful. i suspect much of it is intended to help authors avoid howlers in their worldbuilding: making plausible landforms and climates takes some understanding of why real ones are the way they are.
