WRT the scandals du jour, the washington post is reporting that the justice department spied on another reporter for "national security reasons":
When the Justice Department began investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009, investigators did more than obtain telephone records of a working journalist suspected of receiving the secret material.

They used security badge access records to track the reporter’s comings and goings from the State Department, according to a newly obtained court affidavit. They traced the timing of his calls with a State Department security adviser suspected of sharing the classified report. They obtained a search warrant for the reporter’s personal e-mails.
well, at least they had a warrant for some of that. (which does make me wonder why they didn't think they needed one for the rest, or for spying on the AP.)

meanwhile, the LA times says that the white house knew the IRS was harassing the tea partiers, but nobody told the president. anything. ever. you'll have to pardon my skepticism, since they previously denied knowing anything about it themselves.

now, this is wonderful fresh meat for the folks on my side of the aisle, and they're eating it up as expected. but i wonder: how is this going over on the left? the ACLU and the press seem a wee bit miffed, but what of the average lefty and the liberal blogosphere? since i know at least one of those applies to a lot of my readers, what's it look like over there?
