the great white east
Jan. 31st, 2021 06:16 pmas of 4pm EST, when i was clearing the driveway, we've gotten 4cm of snow. the current doomcast says we'll get between 20 and 30cm of snow, sleet, freezing rain, cats and dogs, locusts, hot hail, and several other portents of the apocalypse. i expect everything around here will be shut down for a couple of days.
generally, though, this winter has been pleasant. for example, while walking in my local huge park last thursday, i saw a flock of blue birds, maybe twenty of them. i've never seen that many before in one place; just a few of them at a time. and i saw a small flock of woodpeckers, definitely two and probably three of them. i've always thought of them as solitary birds.
of course, last thursday i'd deliberately decided to leave my camera at home, because it was bright and sunny outside, and i just wanted to enjoy my walk. ooo, the gods of photography just had to smack me for that one!
