that crayfish are coming ashore in a local park:

one of the egretini (egrettes? egretlets? fledgeling egrets?) in the park:

some glossy ibises came to visit also. they're more or less subtropical birds, coming north only to breed.

y'know how i talk about getting my waterfowl colinear? i did!

yet another reason i carry the great white lens; you really should look at one of the larger views of this:

i've got a series of photos of the egret making a short flight, and i may make another egret polytpych.
i had no idea you could get even newly metamorphosed frogs this small in temperate areas:
