let the gardening season begin!
Feb. 20th, 2012 09:49 pmyesterday, i started three kinds of ornamental seeds indoors: nasturtium, mexican hat, and a zinna varietal called "envy", cause it has green flowers. since dïe überblönde barely notices my gardens, i'll plant anything she takes an interest in... envy caught her eye a few years ago, so i've been planting it since. i had a stand of mexican hats for a couple of years, but something (rabbit? groundhog?) ate them to the ground last summer, and they didn't recover.
i also found dealers for two kinds of tasty blueberries: earliblue and rubell. now i just gotta wait for the outdoor temperature to warm a bit so i can work the soil -- gotta make it acid -- buy the bushes, and plant 'em. also gotta check when the last frost is expected to be; given how warm this winter has been, it may be rather early this year.
