gardening in earnest
Feb. 25th, 2021 03:22 pmit's almost 60° here, which is great weather for gardening. except that it's not even march, and i have about six more weeks before the last frost of the season.
it's also far too early to put out blueberry bees, again. but this year i was prepared, and i've left the pupae in their nesting tubes, in their beehouse, with cold packs on top, and the whole kit and kaboodle is now in a big plastic tub covered with newspaper. there! they're gonna stay hibernating, or i'm gonna turn this whole winter around and go home!
also, an alarmingly tall box showed up today; it was six feet if it was an inch. right, if i order six-foot bamboo poles for training vines on, they need to come in a box at least six feet long. also about a million feet of string, from everybody's favorite purveyor of miscellany, uline. and stuff to whack the grass the keeps infiltrating my gardens, and some seeds. the dahlias are shipping separately, hopefully after the last frost.
