isn't it just incredible? the relief on the volcanoes is so sharp, it's like being there!

Just incredible! I love planetary geology so much. My career has been confined to terrestrial work but I remain fascinated by the solar system and beyond.

yeah, it's hard to get a job as an astrogeologist. there's only ever been one. :)


optimistically, i guess you could say that one-twelveth of all people to visit other places in the solar system have been geologists...

I am friends with some folks who study icy moons and other solar system bodies and it's just the coolest stuff ever.

yeah. i'm hopeful we'll find something living under all that ice, but other than europa and enceladus, we don't have a good way to get there.

in general, the site i linked to is very worth reading. many of the people there are scientists, and there's a few mission PIs as well. you may be especially interested in the mars threads, since there are other geologists on them commenting knowledgeably on what we see.
