titration for amateurs
Apr. 10th, 2012 11:39 pmthe by-the-numbers soil pH adjustment for my blueberries didn't quite take; the soil pH is ~6.0. that's certainly better than is was, but the the amount of aluminum sulfate i added should have gotten it down to 5.0, a mere ten-fold difference in acidity. so, i'm gonna have to titrate it, and to do that, i'm gonna get another pH meter... no reason to blunder about in the half-darkness of wet-chemical testing.
i planted the blueberries on sunday morning, despite the high pH. they seem to be fine, and they should be fine for a while, since soil pH is really important only for their mineral uptake.
today, i carried out the ritual slaughter of the first spring dandelions. that'll teach 'em to try to bloom in my lawn. the next ritual slaughter will be put off until after the trees stop needing a room. i think i'm gonna hide indoors for the next week or so.
