whee, more snow!
Jan. 21st, 2014 01:49 pmwe've already gotten a few inches -- and pushed snow off the driveway twice -- and we haven't even gotten to the good part when a low deepens off the carolina coast and turns into a nor'easter. we may get more than HM foot (reformed) of snow. whee!
OTOH, the automagic warning feature on the weather radio appears so unreliable as to be useless. it's been flakey for a while. since the radio has fallen off the narrow ledge where it lives a couple of times, i wondered if the built-in antenna's internal connection had gotten busted.
yesterday, i picked up a couple of meters of coax and stripped the conductors back to make a dipole antenna for it. no dice: the NWS voice station is presently intoning an automated dire message, but radio either isn't receiving or isn't responding to the digital sidebands containing the encoded warning. *sigh* time to get a new one.
edit: we pushed more snow off the driveway around 5pm/2200Z. by the time we got to the bottom, the top needed to be done again...
