while the safari™s are clearly the parts of the zoo that rake in the buckaroonies, the rest of the animals are plenty interesting:

well, just one tour. and since i was visiting the san diego zoo's safari park™, it wasn't a "tour", it was a safari™. anything they could think of to extract more money from people was a safari™. wanna rent tricycles to ride around the park? that's a safari™. ride on a zipline? safari™. watch their cheetah do tricks demonstrate behaviors? safari™. i'm surprised their fast food stands aren't referred to as gastronomic safari™s.

i blew a bunch of money to go on a caravan safari™, which means i rode around in the back of a truck as it drove around in simulated asian and african terrain. it was worth it: it does provide good views of the animals in something like natural conditions. oh, and i got to do touristy things, like feed some of the tamer ones. at least other people in the truck did. i was just taking pictures.

we started our roaming around the city with a brief trip to balboa park, and specifically the san diego museum of art, where we saw such fine art as:

hummingbird

...um, such fine art as:

egg shaped box

because i really like heavily-textured objects.
